It’s Almost Too Simple. That’s What I Love About It.
One of my favorite moments in a heart coherence session happens while the guest’s eyes are still closed.
We’re practicing Heart-Focused Breathing™, a technique from HeartMath®. They haven’t looked at the feedback on the screen. Yet they’re already noticing something: a sense of calm, relaxation, or peace.
I see this often in my sessions. The simplicity can surprise people. Something that feels meaningful has happened through a practice that almost seems too simple.
And I understand that surprise. It takes me right back to my own experience with this technology.
Before I saw that feedback for myself, I hadn’t realized what was happening inside my body, or how I could influence some of it. Discovering that connection fascinated me.
It felt a little like magic.
There was technology involved, of course. But the part that amazed me was discovering something I could participate in myself.
Feeling it before seeing it

In my sessions at The Wilde Haven and Amara Spa in Sedona, we use a sensor to observe heart rhythm patterns and coherence metrics. There’s a guided practice, and an optional essential oil can be part of the experience.
When guests open their eyes, I show them the readings from before and after the practice. We take time to look at what changed and talk about what they noticed.
I love that the screen comes into the conversation after they’ve had a chance to notice their own experience.
The device gives us feedback about heart rhythm patterns. The guest tells me how they feel. Those are two different pieces of the conversation, and both matter.
What stays with me is that moment of discovery: they’ve experienced something for themselves.
Why I love bringing this to Sedona
People come to Sedona for all kinds of reasons. Some are seeking answers. Some are at a crossroads in their lives.
I enjoy blending science and spirit in that setting. The technology gives us something to observe, while the guided practice makes room to turn inward.
My intention is to help people recognize that their own perspective and inner knowing have a place in the conversation. I want them to feel more able to listen to themselves.
That’s what makes this work so meaningful to me.
Something to take home
Before guests leave, I teach them a practice they can take home and build into daily life.
Their experience will vary. A brief practice doesn’t promise a particular feeling or resolve every question. But they have something they can return to and explore for themselves.
Watching that discovery keeps reminding me of my own: I had more ability to influence my physiology than I’d realized.
I still find that fascinating.
And yes, a little magical.
